POSTER

Indigo Sparke returns with her third full-length album, There Is a Light on the Horizon Line, marking Sparke's first album in over four years. Produced by John Parish, whose decades-long creative partnership with PJ Harvey has birthed some of her most celebrated work, There Is a Light on the Horizon Line was recorded in Bristol where Sparke - now based in California - decamped to work on the record at 33 weeks pregnant. That threshold - between one life and another - runs through the album. Written across a period of profound personal transformation, the songs explore love, motherhood, devotion, memory, identity and the strange ways we are remade by intimacy.Musically, the album represents Sparke at her most expansive. The stark intimacy of her acclaimed debut album Echo (2021) and widescreen emotionality of it's quickfire follow-up Hysteria (2022) remain, but here they meet a rawer, more visceral and instinctive band sound, with a '90s alternative-rock current running through Sparke's songwriting. Parish assembled an exceptional cast around the songs, including Portishead's Adrian Utley, Seb Rochford and Shahzad Ismaily, alongside longtime collaborator Adam Brisbin. The record also arrives with a remarkable story of artistic evolution. Sparke's first two albums were made alongside Adrianne Lenker, Andrew Sarlo and Aaron Dessner; this third chapter with Parish continues an extraordinary lineage of collaborators while pushing her somewhere entirely new. In the four years since Hysteria, Sparke became a mother and expanded her creative practice into writing, fashion and visual storytelling. As such, There Is a Light on the Horizon Line feels less like a return than a transformation. It captures an artist at a genuine threshold-between old and new selves, solitude and family, intimacy and expansiveness-and opens the door to the most ambitious chapter of Sparke's career to date.
