2008 four CD Proper box set containing 33 fine examples from the Jazz icon's early career from 1956-57 in studio and live settings, accompanied by, amongst others, Donald Byrd, Lou Donaldson, Art Blakey, and Kenny Burrell. Jimmy Smith was the first musician to make the Hammond organ effectively serve as a group, providing walking bass lines with his feet, chordal accompaniment in his left hand, and solo line in his right.
