"Ack Värmeland Du Sköna" in the classic recording with Stan Getz and Bengt Hallberg was an early, and decisive jazz impulse for Bertil "Jonas" Jonasson. He naturally chose the tenor sax as his instrument. During his many years as a touring dance-band musician Jonas also performed on the baritone sax; today it might well be regarded as his principal instrument, due in part to the influence of Lars Gullin. Over the years Jonas has spiced his concerts with more and more Lars Gullin compositions; with Jonas Plays Gullin, his dream to record an album featuring Gullin works exclusively has been realized.
