A very popular touring singer of the late 1950's and early 60's, Laurie Loman toured the US during a time when young girl pop singers were very much in vogue and teen idol singers dominated the charts. While still a teen in the early 1950's, Laurie was offered a contact from ABC Paramount and began to tour quite regularly throughout the remainder of the 1950's and even had a minor hit in 1954 with "Whither Thou Goest." She remained popular throughout the early 1960's and is now best known for her version of "Johnny Angel," which appeared years before TV star Shelley Fabares made it a hit, no doubt inspired by Loman's original version. Years later, in the late 1970's, Laurie was recruited to record the album "Sings Country Weepers" presented here featuring original songs written by pianist Stan Ecton, who accompanied Laurie on the album and well known standards such as "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry," "Please Release Me" and Billy Vera's "Storybook Children."
