In the years immediately following it's arrival during the latter part of 1968, reggae music continued to develop and transmute, with a handful of independent record producers primarily responsible for each new development. Among those at the forefront of these musical revolutions was the multi-talented Lloyd Charmers who since embarking on a career as a record producer in 1968 had scored numerous national hits, despite limited financial resources. His run of hits continued throughout the early 70s, with best-selling singles from this time including recordings by some of Jamaica's most popular performers, notably vocalists Alton Ellis, B. B. Seaton & The Gaylads, Ken Parker and DJ pioneers U Roy and I Roy.
