Archive collection. Lotte Lenya was an Austrian singer and actress. She had a role in the Bertolt Brecht/Kurt Weill theatre play called The Three Penny Opera and the sung ballet 'The Seven Deadly Sins'. In 1935, she moved with her husband Kurt Weill to New York where she appeared on Broadway in the '40s and '50s. And as an actress she was best known as 'Rosa Klebb' in the 1963 James Bond movie From Russia With Love. In 1956 Lotte Lenya won a Tony Award for her role in 'The Three Penny Opera' and that was the only time an Off-Broadway performance has been so honored. With a deepened of age voice Lenya went to re-record a number of songs from her Berlin and American stage period. Her unique voice is still recognizable out of thousands.
