CD reissue. The title track was an instant classic hit, among his finest '60s up-tempo tunes. The album became very popular in the UK Northern Soul and the UK Mod scene of that same time period. Some of the songs would be covered by so-called 'British R&B' and 'Beat Groups' such as The Rolling Stones and The Who. While not released as a single 'Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home)' became a very popular track and 20 years later in 1983, it was a number one hit for Paul Young, stylistically notable for the use of a fretless bass played by Pino Palladino. After two more hit singles, 'Hitch Hike' and 'Pride And Joy' Marvin Gaye was now firmly a part of Motown's growing hit elite.
