Down At Dawn present a reissue of Ken McIntyre Looking Ahead with Eric Dolphy, originally released in 1960. Ken McIntyre was a one-of-a-kind multi-instrumentalist and music educator and Looking Ahead was his debut album as leader featuring the great Eric Dolphy. The album appears as one of those extremely intriguing and yet lesser known works in jazz history. The whole group with pianist Walter Bishop, Jr., bassist Sam Jones, and the great drummer Art Taylor, swings hard and clear underneath the McIntyre-Dolphy unprecedented horn section. A very interesting date based on a variety of McIntyre originals and a personal rendition of a Gershwin classic, "They All Laughed". Edition of 300.
