Mendelsson Ravel Sollima marks Marie Bégin's first recording as first violin with the Quatuor Saguenay. Born after the quartet's founding in 1989, Marie brings a freshness and color to this album that is particularly well suited to the quartets of Mendelssohn and Ravel, who were in their late twenties when they composed these works. This recording also includes "Federico II", the folk-inspired first movement from the cycle "Viaggio in Italia," written in 2000 by the Italian composer Giovanni Sollima (1962-...). Established in 1989 as the quartet in residence of the Orchestre symphonique du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Quatuor Saguenay, (formerly "Quatuor Alcan") celebrates it's 33rd anniversary in 2022. Recognized as an artistic beacon in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region, the quartet has a reputation for excellence that has grown thanks to numerous national and international tours, multiple radio broadcasts and more than thirty recordings to it's credit.
