Pitchfork pretty much sums up Mutilation Rites. Brooklyn's Mutilation Rites play rapid fire black metal with elements of dark doom and darker crust-the sort of USBM that feels stately and epic, but boozed soaked and feral. After demos, a split, and the like, the quartet-featuring ex-Tombs drummer Justin Ennis and new bassist Ryan Jones of Today is the Day and Wetnurse-is set to release an impressive debut LP, Empyrean on May 22 via Prosthetic. That's where you'll find "Realms of Dementia", a song that brings to mind late-period Darkthrone vomiting the youthful version of themselves onto the crowd at a filthy DIY space.
Tracks:
1.1 A Season of Grey Rain
1.2 Realms of Dementia
1.3 Ancient Bloodoath
1.4 Fogwarning
1.5 Dead Years
1.6 Broken Axis
