Roy Lee Johnson is best known for writing 'Mr Moonlight' for Doctor Feelgood and the Interns, which was covered by the Beatles. He made some stunning records for a variety of labels down through the 60's and 70's. His dynamite live performance convinced Jimmy Johnson to record him at Muscle Shoals Sound and sign the record to Stax. It is this rare masterpiece that we are reissuing here. The album is a brilliant collection of funk, punctuated with a couple of shots of fine Southern soul. 'The Dryer' and 'Patch It Up' are funk club classics and make this album sought-after by collectors. 'I Can't Stand This Loneliness' and 'Something Special' are fine soul moments that showcase his fine voice.
