This Album is one I've always wanted to make. The Feel and grooves I've heard and loved: Curtis Mayfield, BB King, Ry Cooder, The Reverend Al Green to name but a few. The opportunity came through the very lovely Chris Hession. He introduced me to Nick Atkinson and Kat Eaton; a dynamic, confident and determined production team. Their writing and groove approach was irresistible. They ignited my desire to write again and I loved the creative process."The album was written and recorded with Nick and Kat over a period of 18 months between Jools Holland tours and shows out on the road with Ruby's own band. What started out as an intended 4 or 5 track EP developed into a 10 track album. But there was another track to be added:"The film's lead track, 'Chasing Love', was happening around the same time. These things can be such a long process. The song was written in a hotel room in Mayfair in an afternoon and was put in situ on the film set around 6pm and filmed as part of an opening scene. So it just felt right to include it on this album. For me it's all about writing and singing songs I really believe in. When you do that it makes you want to go that extra mile even when it looks like you're the only one who believes in it."The film in question is 'The Host'The Host' will be on General Worldwide release from 17 January 2020 starring Derek Jacobi and a full cast which also includes Dougie Poynter from McFly.
