Spittle presents the first collection dedicated to the '80s cult Milanese band Peter Sellers And The Hollywood Party. The Early Years 1985-1988 is the opera omnia of the Peter Sellers, one of the most influential bands of the Italian underground. In The Early Years 1985-1988 one will find "Chaotic Shampoo & Strange Rock'N'Roll", Peter Sellers' first recording studio experience, released on the English label Glass Records for the legendary collection, 50,000 Glass Fans Can 't Be Wrong (1986), a compilation shared with heavyweight indie bands such as The Pastels, Jazz Butcher, Nikki Sudden, Mayo Thompson, and Spacemen 3. There is the sweet psychedelic ballad "Stolen Letter", dedicated to the figure of Syd Barrett and "Spun Out Of A Mind", inspired by a Jack Kerouac poem. There are also other excerpts from the first demo Peter Sellers Is Living and the tape-compilation Brian Jones Died For Your Sins (1987) and the ballad "The Devil And The Moon" from The Invasion Of Tambourine Men (1987). There is a tribute to the Stones in 'Play With Fire' - originally recorded as Red Roses In The Sand, an extemporaneous project with Nikki Sudden and published as 7" plus some eccentric renditions of Joy Division 's "I Remember Nothing", published as Magick y And Uncle Tybia and a couple of tributes to Roky Erickson and Barrett-era Pink Floyd. The liner notes have been edited by the journalist Roberto Calabrò, also author of the volume Eighties Colors - Garage, Beat And Psychedelia In The Italy Of The Eighties (2010). The cover artwork has been created by the illustrator Vitamina. Enclosed CD contains all the songs on the vinyl, as well as some rare and unreleased demo track and live versions.
