A popular Hi-NRG hit back in 1989, My Heart Keeps Beating Faster was sung by Rocq-e Harrell, who started her career in the late 1970s as a background singer for Diana Ross before embarking on a solo career, gaining popularity in Europe, where she eventually settled. Also based in Europe, specifically London, at the time, vocalist/actress Shezwae Powell landed a critically acclaimed starring role in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express. The talented singer released a handful of well-received club singles before returning home to the United States. At some point while in London, Powell recorded her own version of My Heart Keeps Beating Faster, but the sessions were either never completed or simply shelved. The vocal tracks from those sessions were recently uncovered, with some saying that Shezwae's vocal performance was as good, if not better than that of Harrell. Presented here is Powell's unearthed acappella with brand new music added, resulting in a version that positively eclipses the original. The new EP features 4 exclusive mixes of the newly constructed track, including a disco mix, a laid back mix, and bonus instrumental version. Thanks to this fortunate discovery, the heart does indeed keep beating.
