The album marks her first release through Atlantic Records. The project marks the second time Kurstin produced an entire Christmas album, the first being Wrapped in Red (2013) by Kelly Clarkson. Recording sessions for the album took place over a couple weeks in May 2017 and left Sia and Kurstin "laughing at the end of each day".
