By February 2nd 1949 Glenn Miller's sax man and vocalist, Tex Beneke had been leading the post-war Miller Band for three years, though Tex had dropped the "Glenn Miller Orchestra" billing a year previously ten million records had been sold, however the golden days of the big bands was over and the Beneke - Miller Orchestra was the largest dance band in America at the time. With it's string section and French horn which Tex had inherited from the Miller Army Air Forces Band. To save money, Tex paid off Phil Cogliano and the other string players. When Tex dropped the strings he remarked that the band had become more "Millerish" if that were possible. So on this follow up disc to the original Glenn Miller Formula Cat No (SOY 846), we find find the Tex's interpretation of some of Glenn Miller's greatest hits plus others that Glenn could have played had he survived.
