The timeless, seemingly ageless Tony Bennett has enjoyed a remarkable career, having notched up his first hit records way back in 1951 and remaining both popular and successful for much of the ensuing seventy years, with a steady stream of gold & platinum records, and Grammy awards. This 56-track compilation is drawn from Bennett's singles releases between 1951-62, presenting all of his forty-odd US and UK hits, alongside a dozen or so of his rarer 45s, several of which are surprisingly hard to find on CD. Although Bennett had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2016, he continued to perform and record until he was obliged to stop, due to the COVID-19 pandemic enforced lockdown in early 2020, by which time he was ninety-four years of age.
