Ecko Records is a stalwart of the Southern Soul genre, though their release calendar in 2020 was unusually small (for the reasons we all know). Maybe they felt the need to gift something to their followers at year's end. Ecko had previously released the solid "It's Christmas, Baby" back in 2008* and it should be pointed out that, by my count, precisely half the tracks on this new album were drawn from the earlier comp. That still leaves six all new Southern Soul beauties. And one "nice" thing about Southern Soul is that they waste no time on subtleties, so you'll get songs like "Humping Santa" from Ms. Jody and "All I Want For Christmas Is A Big Old Candy Stick" from Val McKnight.
