This album contains songs of the Kwakiutl people collected by Dr. Ida Halpern (1910-1987). Halpern, an Austrian-born Canadian musicologist, studied Native music from several tribes along the coast of British Columbia, including the Haida, Tlingit, Coastal Salish, Nootka, and Bella Coola.
