Billy Womack was a champion fiddler, a mean guitar player, a master buck dancer and a violin maker. He taught others to play the fiddle, as a barber he sheared countless heads of hair, he was locally famous for skinning rattlesnakes and for his great sense of humor when playing practical jokes. He influenced scores of young musicians who traveled for miles to play fiddle tunes with him in his fabled Bluegrass Barber Shop. All of these talents and traits combined to make a man who was a local legend and one of the finest traditional fiddlers in Middle Tennessee.
