Johann Sebastian Bach's B minor Mass is a work often considered his ultimate achievement, uniting as it does all the Baroque styles in their final form. In July 2014 a quartet of top-flight vocal soloists, the Kammerchor der Frauenkirche and ensemble frauenkirche, directed by their Kantor Matthias Grünert (b. 1973), presented a concert of this work within Dresden's re-dedicated Frauenkirche, where Bach himself played in 1736. Since Jan. 2005 Mr. Grünert has been artistic director for all music at the Frauenkirche, also founding it's 120-voice choir and thirty-member Chamber Choir.
