A two-tracker of freshness from Boxcutter, also known as Barry Lynn, a producer who was taking chances and constantly mutating his music way before people started talking about post-dubstep. Lead track 'Allele' builds from echoey drums into a tight, juke-influenced pattern with lots of edits. Lynn adds an old-school hardcore-style vocal, wavering chords and drops, before the whole thing finally resolves into a restrained but ravey breakbeat. 'Other People' mixes hazy, live-sounding two-step beats with a lush, bittersweet melody.
