Carlos Manuel Santana was an opera singer who hailed from Havana, Cuba. He studied at the Hubert de Blanc Conservatory under the direction of Paul Csonka and in the US with the maestros Juan Viccini and Julia Drobner of New York. Later he sang for the US Armed Services, in concerts at the Connecticut Town Hall and operas in New York and Philadelphia during the 1960's. His extensive repertoire included the principle role of the operas La Boheme; La Traviata & Rigoletto as well as classics in German, French and Spanish. He was a member of the Young Audiences of New York and introduced many operas into public schools. He eventually moved to South Florida and discovered his Cuban roots, finding a large population of Cuban expatriates living there. This rare album, recorded in the early 1970's, features the wonderful tenor singing classic songs that were made popular in Cuba as a tribute to his homeland. All selections newly remastered.
