A phenomenon of the very earliest days of disco, when producers of disco records would enlist the talents of symphony orchestras to provide the lush strings, brassy horns and penetrating tympani that were the trademark of some of the best disco productions - the disco orchestra was born. One of the finest examples on record is the Charlie Calello Orchestra's "Calello Serenade" album, originally released in 1979. Calello, a seasoned producer, arranged and produced Odyssey's hit "Native New Yorker." Besides boasting the aforementioned talents of symphony orchestra players, "Calello Serenade" also features session vocalists Luther Vandross and Cissy Houston, among others. The album features a disco reworking of the 1940's Louis Prima big band hit "Sing, Sing, Sing" which became a massive club hit. All selections newly re-mastered.
