From his youth in vaudeville, Charley Straight joined the Imperial Player Roll Company, where he supervised their popular song program. There, and at rival company QRS, Straight recorded novelty rags under his own name, and performed under the pseudonym Billy King for the Rudolph Wurlitzer Company.
