With their debut album Unchain the Wolves (1997), Australian warmongers Destroyer 666 quickly gained international acclaim. The band followed it up with the even stronger Phoenix Rising (2000), which saw the band relocating to Europe in order to satisfy the soaring demand for touring and festival shows. After a round of line-up changes, their fast, intense, and aggressive third full length masterpiece Cold Steel... For an Iron Age (2002) again took the scene by storm. The term "old school" applies to this band, but without any clinging to simple nostalgia. Destroyer 666 have nothing in common with a bunch of kids trying to emulate the '80s, but rather they've lived and breathed metal since that golden age and continue to do so uncompromisingly.
