A Better Fate is saxophonist Eric Erhardt's debut CD as a leader and features eight of Eric's original compositions arranged for septet, sextet and quartet. Material on the recording ranges from modern Jazz to acoustic fusion. Intricate harmonies and thoughtful melodies are infused with Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, Swing, and Rock rhythms. Primary compositional influences for these pieces include Kenny Wheeler, Hermeto Pascoal, Wayne Shorter, Dave Liebman, Walt Weiskopf, Jan Garbarek, Pat Metheny and Native American music.
