Best known for the track Coney Island Baby, Bronx group The Excellents were first formed in early 1960. The members of the sextet were John and George Kuse, Phil Sanchez, Joel Feldman, Denis Kestenbaum and Chuck Epstein. After an unfortunate turn of events brought the group to a halt, Bobby Miller, owner of the Bobby and Old Timer Records labels, purchased and released demos of Helene (Your Wish Came True) and a fast version of Sunday Kind of Love on a 45 with the name of the demised outfit changed to The Excellons. .
