Gaude, Plaude! - the Maedchenchor Hannover (Hanover Girls Choir) sings at the beginning of this CD recording, asking US to rejoice and pay homage in song. Rondeau Production presents the rarely recorded psalms and motets by Chiara Margarita Cozzolani and Maria Xaveria Perucona, two nuns from Italian convents who, as early as the seventeenth century, composed and performed polyphonic choral music especially for female voices. Joined by the Hannoversche Hofkapelle in their interpretation of these exceptional compositions, the Maedchenchor Hannover (Hanover Girls Choir) under the direction of Gudrun Schroefel demonstrates it's own extraordinary musical qualities.
