Jan Hammer is a Czech-born American musician, composer and record producer. He started out playing keyboards with The Mahavishnu Orchestra in the early 1970s, and writing scores for television and film including "Miami Vice Theme" and "Crockett's Theme". Hammer has collaborated with some of the era's most influential jazz and rock musicians such as John McLaughlin, Jeff Beck, Al Di Meola, Carlos Santana, Stanley Clarke, and Elvin Jones among many others. He has composed and produced at least 14 original motion picture soundtracks, the music for 90 episodes of Miami Vice and 20 episodes of the popular British television series Chancer. The first CD on this compilation is the album "The First Seven Days" recorded by Jan Hammer in 1975. The following year he released the album "Oh, Yeah?" with The Jan Hammer Group (also available from Floating World Records) together with the second CD on this compilation, Jeff Beck With The Jan Hammer Group Live, a chronicle of their 100-show tour together which certified gold. The third CD is a collaboration between Jan Hammer and Jerry Goodman an American violinist known for playing electric violin with The Mahavishnu Orchestra, alongside Jan Hammer on keyboards.
