Filmworks III contains 25 cues commissioned by Portlands vanguard advertising agency Weidman & Kennedy for 15-to-60 second TV commercials, the 1st recordings by Zorn's current group Masada (with Dave Douglas, Greg Cohen and Joey Baron) for the film Thieves Quartet, a bizarre duo with guitarist Marc Ribot and 9 cues that served as a blueprint for Zorn's impossible-to-find soundtrack to the Japanese cartoon Cynical Hysterie Hour.
