One of the great rare albums of the Latin Jazz idiom by the accomplished pianist/composer Johnny Conquet. Recorded in 1960, this wonderful audiophile recording features explosive up-tempo jazz mambos and guajiras that accurately reflect the excitement of the late 1950's and early 1960's Latin jazz movement. This album was conceived by Johhny to explain the different Latin rhythms that were all the rage in large dance halls in New York in the mid 50's. Conquet is joined on these recordings by the orchestra he formed in 1954 featuring trumpeter/percussionist Roger "King" Mozian who helped write and arrange the album; renowned flautist Johnny Pacheco and drummer/percussionist Willie Rodriguez. All selections newly remastered.
