In 2013 composer and keyboard player Maurizio Guarini has delivered his long awaited first solo album, titled Creatures from a Drawer. Guarini is commonly known as long-time keyboard player and co-composer of Italian Progressive Rock band Goblin, primarily known for their acclaimed musical scores for such classic genre films as Dario Argento's Suspiria, George Romero's Dawn of the Dead and countless others. Thanks to Maurizio's ingrained eclecticism and need to explore new and challenging soundscapes, Creatures from A Drawer includes several diverse flavours, and is not limited to any one specific genre. Within it's fabric one will find influences from progressive rock, jazz-rock, fusion and ambient evolution, to a taste of the avant-garde. All are clearly recognizable, and his compositions are often dressed with layers of math, Maurizio's lifetime secondary dominant interest, after music. Guarini's unique sound is a potent mark in progressive film score production for some of the 70's and 80's most acclaimed Horror films to hit north American shores direct from the sound studios of Italy, where he left his unmistakable signature not only as a member of Goblin, but far beyond the reaches of common musical perception. "An intriguing and very innovative album" - commented legendary filmmaker Dario Argento.
