The D22 Turntable Quartet (hailing from the Dublin suburb of Clondalkin, as the name suggests) are made up of former World Scratch Champion - DJ Flip, along with 80s battle DJs, Cutmaster Jay, DJ Control, and DJ Laz-e, who also pioneered Ireland's B-boy scene as far back as 1982.It was imperative that I got the old gang back together for this one. These guys were killing it on the wheels of steel back in 1986, before Hip Hop was even getting played on mainstream Irish radio. They were so talented, and years ahead of their time. To have them perform on the record is a dream come true. Honestly.Funny thing... it had been thirty years since Cutmaster Jay had even touched a turntable, so he had to get that muscle memory back. I loaned him a mixer and turntable, and a few records to practice on. Within a couple of days, he was back in business."DJ Control sadly passed away in August 2023, following a short illness.
