The Paul Togawa Quartet was one of the first Mode recordings to receive public acclaim. This came about from the group's appearance on the Stars of Jazz show. This recording was Gabe Baltazar's first appearance on record. It is a very strong session with great performances by all concerned. Dick Johnston, who performed and recorded for a short period of time, is quite a revelation. Gabe Baltazar foreshadows the great altoist that he later became with Stan Kenton. A very fine under recognized recording.
