(LP + MP3) "A Message From The Sea" is a lush love song to all things analog. Frontwoman Julie Carpenter's mesmerizing throwback vocals are threaded together with the raw jangle of LA's burgeoning freak folk scene. Texas-born Carpenter has toured as violinist with The Eels, Spiritualized, Love with Arthur Lee, and Bodies Of Water, and was a violinist/vocalist for Los Angeles folk rockers Listing Ship. The eight songs on the album navigate an evocative soundscape ranging in mood from a Velvet Underground-inspired Americana jubilee to an anarchic musicbox on a sunken ship. Beautiful gatefold sleeve, with digital download card.
