Poetry, speech, and melody combine with electronics on this sublime tape from Purely Physical's new sub-label, Purely Physical Teeny Tapes. A change of pace for the thus far dance-driven label, Figures is a collaborative one-off project from Melbourne DJ/producer Laila Sakini and poet Lucy Van. Themes of bodies, lineage, language, and power underpin the lyrical and sonic intentions behind this surreal offering. Lucy is a post-doctoral researcher in the English and Theatre Studies program at the University of Melbourne, and an edi-tor at Cordite Poetry Review. Laila is a producer, vocalist and DJ. Pro-dubbed all clear tape packaged with an A2 double-sided fold-out newsprint poster with Lucy Van's poems transcribed in full, all housed within a PVC heat sealed pouch; Edition of 100.
