Grammy winning writer/arranger Quincy Jones's early explorations into be-bop are exposed here on one of the greatest jazz sessions of all time, a remarkable gathering of the Jones tribe. Recorded in 1957, the album features the amazing Thad Jones on trumpet, cornet and flugelhorn; Jo Jones and Elvin Jones on drums; Jimmy Jones on piano and Eddie Jones on bass. The band of Joneses are augmented by Frank Wess on flute and tenor sax; Henry Coker on trombone; Frank Foster on tenor sax; Tommy Flanagan on piano and Doug Watkins on bass. Quincy Jones handled arranging and conducting. All selections newly remastered.
