It would appear that Valerie Carr has been somewhat skipped over when it comes to CD reissues and she's often referred to as a one hit wonder. However this new CD from Jasmine proves that she was a very good song stylist and was perhaps a little underrated. Features her two LPs "Song Stylist Extraordinaire" and "Ev'ry Hour, Ev'ry Day of My Life" and on both Valerie delivers classy interpretations of such numbers as "Try a Little Tenderness", "In The Wee Small Hours of the Morning", "I'll Be Around", "Why I Was Born" and "Come Rain or Come Shine". It seems that Valerie Carr had a fairly short and mysterious career of which there doesn't seem to be much information. One thing is for sure though, she was a talented singer and this CD is well worth a listen for fans of R&B.
