The second volume in Bear Family's THE HILLBILLIES: THEY TRIED TO ROCK 2014 series that brings together young and established Country artists of the '50 's who were able to cross over to the Rock market with a new exciting sound now referred to as Rockabilly. On THEY TRIED TO ROCK, the label has collected a variety of examples of country musicians making the transition into Rock 'N' Roll. Some were very successful; others were less so. The results are all fascinating: The story of a genre struggling to hold it's own against enormous forces of change in the 1950 's.
