Transcending language barriers, Ottoman music was born out of vast empires as musicians from Persia, Cairo, Andalusia and beyond, traveled from court to court. Inspired by these multi-layered influences, Lamia Yared revives a rare repertoire of the Levantine region, covering from classical Arabic, the Muwashahat, to the Turkish Sanat Sarkilar, to the Sephardic songs.
