Caterina Zanfi, president of the Society of Friends of Bergson and researcher in philosophy at the CNRS invites us to discover the philosophy of life. Plunging it's roots into the German philosophy of the 19th century and more particularly in Schopenhauer and Nietzsche, this movement emerged at the turn of the 20th century. The rapid transformations and upheavals that Europe experienced during this period questioned philosophers and led to a paradigm shift. For Simmel and Bergson, life should no longer be a notion among others but the central concept of philosophical research. Putting life and it's immediate experience back at the center of reflection, these authors shed light on time, society and morality. Just as inspiring as when it was born, the philosophy of life still provides a key to understanding our societies and their challenges.
